SPACES accepts submissions of work in all media, including installation, new media, performance, web art, and 2-D and 3-D objects of all kinds. Artists are selected for exhibitions on the basis of quality and need. Applications are accepted throughout the year and are reviewed annually in the spring by the Board Programming Committee, composed largely of working artists. Some of the next season's four to six exhibitions are determined from the review.
Completion of the entire process can take up to nine months; artists are notified as soon as possible.
Except for our SPACELab program, SPACES does not exhibit work by artists who are currently enrolled in a degree-granting program.

SPACELab provides a flexible, short-term installation space that encourages experimentation. It is especially useful for established artists to create a small, experimental project or as an outlet for younger artists who may not yet have a body of work but want to create a first-time installation.
SPACELab has proven to be highly popular and successful with both the exhibiting artists and the public.
