Nancy Brown is a resident of Baltimore, Maryland. She lives in Naples, Florida part time and Bethany Beach, Delaware in the summer. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1972.
She paints with two instructors on a weekly basis and has taken numerous workshops on watercolor. While at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Brown received rigorous instruction in drawing, color, sculpture, and design that stressed the classical approach. This training in drawing and design established the strong foundation she applies to all of her paintings.
Brown is an artist member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, Rehoboth Art League and the Working Artists Forum of Easton, MD. Her watercolor paintings contain bold color and sparkle with sunlight. Her work is often in a realistic style but will combine a looseness which gives her paintings a fresh look. Her paintings hang in private and corporate collections.
Painting is a passion for Nancy. Her paintings are a creative extension of her love for the beach, water, sailing, gardening and traveling around the world. She grew up sailing as a child in Annapolis, MD. This is where her interest for water scenes began. The subjects she chooses to paint are varied and include still lifes, landscapes, water scenes, boats, flowers, and street scenes of Europe.
On her website you will find and interesting mix of subjects and she invites you to browse through her original watercolors, limited edition giclée prints, calendar and note cards.
Brown loves designing her calendar and cards with her original paintings and finds a new life for them for people to include in their home. Her paintings possess strength and clarity of design whether they are a still life, landscape or seascape.
